Bodegas Barahonda is committed to development and research (R+D+i) in the wine sector, with a line of work aimed at improving the competitiveness of our sector, responding to new climatic challenges and new market trends.

Through new oenological and viticultural strategies, Barahonda is committed to the quality and innovation of its wines, without neglecting tradition. To carry out this task, Barahonda has experimental plots, an equipped laboratory and a team of qualified professionals.

Barahonda, together with research centres such as the University of Murcia, CEBAS-CESIC, the Oenological Station in Jumilla and another private winery in the Region of Murcia, is currently participating in the project “Programa Integral para la Mejora de la Calidad de la Uva y el Vino ante los Nuevos Escenarios Derivados del Cambio Climático” (“Integral Programme for the Improvement of the Quality of Grapes and Wine in the Face of the New Scenarios Derived from Climate Change”, for its translation into English). This project is subject to ERDF funds and to the call for proposals of the Order of 6 June 2018 – RIS3MUR Strategy – of the Regional Ministry for Employment, Universities, Enterprise and Environment of the Region of Murcia.

Barahonda is committed to a wine of excellence, being constantly subjected to quality and food safety audits to optimise and improve processes; all certified under the ISO 9001 standard.

At Barahonda we have several certifications that ensure compliance with quality standards. In addition, we continue to work to incorporate new certifications to our winery.

El Consejo de Agricultura Ecológica de la Región de Murcia (Caerm) es una autoridad pública encargada de aplicar el sistema de control de la Agricultura Ecológica en nuestra Región.

Este órgano, es el encargado de aplicar el Sistema de Control establecido en el Reglamento CEE 2092/91, para la producción, transformación, envasado, comercialización e importación de países terceros, de productos agroalimentarios ecológicos.

Bio Suisse es una organización privada creada por la asociación de productores orgánicos de Suiza. Es un paraguas que agrupa a 32 asociaciones de agricultores orgánicos destacando dentro de sus miembros al Instituto de la Investigación de la Agricultura Orgánica Suizo.

La norma Bio Suisse certifica que los productos que se amparan bajo este sello cuentan con producciones completamente ecológicas, planes de uso de agua en zonas de escasos recursos hídricos y restricciones en el uso de cobre y azufre entre otras.

La V-Label es un símbolo reconocido internacionalmente para el etiquetado de productos y servicios veganos y vegetarianos. Con la V-Label, las empresas promueven la transparencia y la claridad. Los criterios estandarizados aseguran que la V-Label sea un sello único de calidad para los productos veganos y vegetarianos en toda Europa.

Nacen como una categoría de vino que permite identificar la variedad y añada sin necesidad de hacer referencia a su origen geográfico.

Sin duda los vinos varietales, son una oportunidad para mejorar la competitividad y exportaciones de elaboradores y embotelladores, ya que le permitirán disponer de un mayor abanico de tipos de vino haciéndole más accesible a las bodegas introducirse en diferentes segmentos del mercado. Además, aporta una mayor visibilidad a las variedades de uva en países donde las D.O. no son muy conocidas.

The Council of Organic Agriculture of the Region of Murcia (Caerm) is a public authority in charge of applying the control system of Organic Agriculture in our Region.

This body is in charge of applying the Control System established in Regulation EEC 2092/91, for the production, transformation, packaging, marketing and import of organic food products from third countries.

Bio Suisse is a private organization created by the association of organic producers in Switzerland. It is an umbrella that brings together 32 associations of organic farmers, with the Swiss Organic Agriculture Research Institute standing out among its members.

The Bio Suisse standard certifies that the products covered by this seal have completely organic productions, water use plans in areas with scarce water resources and restrictions on the use of copper and sulfur, among others.

The V-Label is an internationally recognized symbol for the labeling of vegan and vegetarian products and services. With the V-Label, companies promote transparency and clarity. The standardized criteria ensure that the V-Label is a unique seal of quality for vegan and vegetarian products throughout Europe.

They are born as a category of wine that allows the variety and vintage to be identified without the need to refer to its geographical origin.

Without a doubt, varietal wines are an opportunity to improve the competitiveness and exports of processors and bottlers, since they will allow them to have a greater range of types of wine, making it more accessible for wineries to enter different market segments. In addition, it provides greater visibility to grape varieties in countries where D.O. they are not well known.
